Conductor Ken Lam – contract as Music Director of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra extended for five years

Conductor Ken Lam's contract as Music Director of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra has been extended for five years.  Maestro Lam joined the Charleston Symphony Orchestra during the 2014-2015 season as Music Director Designate and took on full responsibilities of Music Director in the 2015-2016 season. He completes his second full season with the CSO this month. 

Conductor Ken Lam was recently appointed Music Director of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra.  He also holds the positions of Resident Conductor at the Brevard Music Center in North Carolina and Artistic Director of Hong Kong Voices.  He is the recipient of Johns Hopkins University’s 2015 Global Achievement Award.

Conductor Ken Lam is Conductor Laureate of the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestras. His previous positions include Assistant Conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Principal Conductor the Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra.  He was the 1st prize winner in the 2011 Memphis Symphony International Conducting Competition.
