Conductor Akiko Fujimoto – appointed Associate Conductor of the Minnesota Orchestra

Conductor Akiko Fujimoto has been named Associate Conductor of the Minnesota Orchestra for the 2018-19 season.  She was appointed Assistant Conductor in May 2017.

In her first year in Minnesota, Fujimoto served as cover conductor for Classical subscription and Live at Orchestra Hall concerts.  She also conducted the Orchestra’s Common Chords performances in Mankato in April, led Young People’s concerts throughout the season and educational sessions with high school students on the Orchestra’s January 2018 tour to Indiana and Illinois. This summer, she will conduct the Minnesota Orchestra’s annual Symphony for the Cities concerts—which includes free outdoor performances in Minneapolis, Plymouth and Winona, and Hudson, Wisconsin—and will lead the ensemble’s first full-orchestra Sensory-Friendly Family concert on July 14 at Orchestra Hall.
