Pianist Jeffrey Biegel – to perform world premiere of new work by Ellen Taaffe Zwilich honoring Ruth Bader Ginsburg with Denyce Graves and the Dallas Symphony

Pianist Jeffrey Biegel will join mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in the world premiere performance of a new composition by Ellen Taafe Zwilich honoring the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Pianist Jeffrey Biegel was instrumental in creating the commission for this new Zwilich composition and was Project Coordinator at the DSO for its implementation. Zwilich’s music, which includes texts by Lauren K. Wateland, will be performed on October 7, 2021 at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center as part of the DSO’s 2021/22 season.

In addition to this composition, pianist Jeffrey Biegel has created commissions for more than ten composers to bring new music for piano and orchestra over the past two decades. Among his recent activities was creating the commission for Kenneth Fuchs's "Spiritualist" Piano Concerto which won the 2019 Grammy award for Best Classical Compendium recording (on the Naxos with the London Symphony Orchestra).
