Conductor Shizuo Kuwahara – appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theater in Vladivostok

Conductor Shizuo Kuwahara has been appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theater in Vladivostok. His responsibilities will include multiple performances of operas, ballets and orchestral concerts over four or five separate visits each year.

Conductor Shizuo Kuwahara is a frequent guest conductor with orchestras in the United States, Europe and Asia. His current activities include reengagements with the Seattle Symphony, the Osaka Symphony Orchestra, the State Symphony Orchestra Moscow, and the Philharmonic Winds Osaka.  Maestro Kuwahara was formerly the Music Director of Symphony Orchestra Augusta and Assistant Conductor of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra.

Conductor Shizuo Kuwahara is a First Prize winner of the Georg Solti International Conducting Competition and was recipient of the Georg Solti Foundation U.S. Career Assistance Award. He was also a Conducting Fellow of the Philadelphia Orchestra.
