President Obama presented the National Medal of Arts to Jessye Norman for her outstanding achievements and support of the Arts at a ceremony in the East Room at the White House.

The National Medal of Arts, the highest honor for artistic excellence awarded by the United States is a Presidential initiative managed by the National Endowment of the Arts.
