Conductor Toshi Shimada completed a six-concert debut series with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra at The Garde Artistic Center (New London, CT) to reviews that headlined "a new conductor, an orchestra is renewed".

Conductor Scott Parkman and his ensemble American Century Music are completing a three-concert series of 20^th Century American Music at the Boston Public Library. The last concert will be performed on August 20, 2010. Maestro Parkman is scheduled to reprise the concerts at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington on November 14, 2010.

Toshiyuki Shimada, Music Director and Conductor of the Yale University Orchestra, toured Turkey with the Orchestra for ten days in early June during Yale in Turkey Week. The tour was part of a major project of Yale University to develop closer relationships with major Turkish universities and was organized through the Yale University Alumni in Turkey.

Sasha Makila, newly-appointed Assistant Conductor of The Cleveland Orchestra,has joined the conductor roster of William Reinert Associates. Maestro Makila begins his responsibilities at Cleveland in September 2010.

Conductor Marcelo Lehninger has been appointed Assistant Conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra starting in the 2010-11 season. Maestro Lehninger will have his Boston Symphony subscription debut in October 2010.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation awarded its prestigious ROBIE Humanitarian Award to Jessye Norman at the Foundation's Annual Awards Dinner on March 8, 2010 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.

The Richmond Symphony has announced the appointment of Steven Smith as its next Music Director. Smith will make his first official appearance as Music Director in a celebratory gala concert on April 24 featuring violinist Gil Shaham.
