The Jackie Robinson Foundation awarded its prestigious ROBIE Humanitarian Award to Jessye Norman "in recognition of her pioneering endeavors and immense contributions to both the music industry and society, her steadfast and generous commitment to education, and her adherence to the exemplary values that have guided her life's path."

The award was presented at the Foundation's Annual Awards Dinner on March 8, 2010 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. The ROBIE Humanitarian Award is the Foundation's highest tribute to honor outstanding individuals who have worked to promote equal opportunity and social justice, in the spirit of Jackie Robinson and the values he embodied.
