Jessye Norman spoke about her life in music with Performance Today host Fred Child in an interview which began airing on American Public Media September 3, 2010. The interview covers a range of topics including her most recent recording Jessye Norman - Roots: My Life My Song. The new CD includes a mix of the music she loves but doesn't often get to sing: spirituals, blues and jazz - the great American songbook.

On Tuesday, September 7, 2010, Ms Norman performed at the Opening Night Gala of the San Francisco Symphony conducted by Maestro Michael Tilson Thomas. At the San Francisco Symphony Gala, Ms Norman premiered new arrangements for orchestra of some of her favorite songs by Duke Ellington including Come Sunday, Heaven, Don't Get Around Much Any more, Sophisticated Lady, and It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing).
