Pianist Jeffrey Biegel – new project with arranger Dick Tunney to create concerto for piano and orchestra from Vince Guaraldi’s music for “Peanuts”

Pianist Jeffrey Biegel is spearheading a new project with arranger Dick Tunney to create a concerto for piano and orchestra from Vince Guaraldi’s music for the animated Peanuts specials.  Maestro Biegel and Dick Tunney are working with Lee Mendelson, owner/publisher of the Vince Guaraldi catalogue.  Expected duration will be 15-18 minutes; instrumentation will be standard and will be available in March 2018.

The Peanuts project is the latest for Jeffrey Beigel, who is well known for his innovative performances and encouragement of new compositions.  Last year, he formed a commissioning project for a new concerto by P.D.Q Bach.  He performed the World Premiere of P.D.Q. Bach's Concerto for Simply Grand, Piano and Orchestra on September 24, 2016 with the Colorado Symphony with Christopher Dragon conducting.
