Endeavors

  • Created and manages Conducting Change, an innovative leadership and teamwork training program which helps business and organization executives model leadership skills in a fun and engaging atmosphere using a symphony orchestra setting based on the premise that the interaction between musicians and the conductor is similar in many ways to the relationship between any group and its leaders.   • Composed a portion of music score for feature film Lake Effects together with Kaz Boyle (Los Angeles film composer and film’s music director) and conducted music score with Roanoke Symphony Orchestra

Other performances include the symphonies of Buffalo, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, San Francisco, Minnesota, Saint Louis, Atlanta, Oregon, Honolulu, Utah, and Boise.  Maestro Wiley also conducts internationally and has appeared with orchestras in Italy, Germany, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and elsewhere across Europe, Asia, and Africa.  Numerous summer music festivals including Aspen, Tanglewood, Park City Utah, Music Academy of the West, and others 

 

Other activities include performances as solo pianist with orchestras including Minnesota, Indianapolis, Oregon, Honolulu, Wheeling; and summer festivals including Aspen, Garth Newel, Wintergreen and Prince Albert (Hawaii).  Maestro Wiley has also appeared as a jazz pianist in recitals through the U.S. as well as in China, Russia, Romania, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy and Bulgaria.

 

Recordings with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra include an album of French cello concerti with Zuill Bailey (Delos), Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 “Choral”, American Piano Concertos with Norman Krieger, and David Stewart Wiley & Friends: Classical Jazz.  Other CDs include American Trumpet Concertos with Paul Neebe; American Contemporary Music with the IU New Music Ensemble; piano/violin CD with violinist Akemi Takayama; and Full Circle, a CD with all original compositions.
